Tip - Sliding glass doors

If the sliding glass doors are hard to push, try and adjust the rollers. The adjustments are either on the sides of the door or on the bottom rail of the door. You may have to remove the door and clean the track. Use silicone spray to lubricate the tracks.

Tip - Bananas

If a green banana is placed next to a ripe banana, it will ripen more quickly. Unpeeled bananas will last longer if stored in the refrigerator in a sealed jar.

Tip - Schuck that corn

It's summer time, and corn on the cob is a favorite. Don't make a mess shucking your corn. Spread a few sheets of newspaper, (not the sports page) on a counter top or table top. Shuck your corn over it. Put the shucked corn in the sink to be rinsed. Wrap up the newspaper, toss in the garbage, and the mess is gone. Enjoy!

Tip - Lose the Fat When Baking

In MOST recipes applesauce can be used to replace fat almost on a one to one substitution basis. If the recipes calls for 1 cup of oil, you can use 1 cup of applesauce especially in baked goods.

Tip - Dusty Computer And TV Screens

A used dryer sheet can be used to clean computer and television screens. The screens will attract less dust.

Tip - Pancakes

Do you like your pancakes nice and light. Try replacing the milk with apple cider. Also for crispy french toast add a pinch of cornstarch to the egg mixture. Don't throw leftover pancakes or french toast away, freeze them and a few days later pop them into the toaster for a nice breakfast.       

Tip - Grease Fires

Baking soda is one of the best fire extinguishers. It cuts off the oxygen supply and the flame goes right out. Always keep an open box next to the stove to dump onto grease fires - and NEVER use water!

Tip - Non Stick Roast

Roasts will never stick to the bottom of the pan if you just place a few stalks of fresh celery under the meat. This also works well with poultry.

Tip - Prevent Moldy Cheese

To keep mold from forming on your cheese, wrap a few cubes of sugar in with the cheese.

Tip - Clothes Left In Washer

We've all left clothes in the washer for a day or two and after drying them they smell bad. Don't let this happen to you. If you forget the clothes for a day in the washer, spray a generous amount of Lysol Disinfectant Spray into the washer, re-rinse and then dry the clothes with a Bounce pad.

Tip - Mirror Defogger

To keep your bathroom mirror from fogging up, place a small amount of shaving cream on the mirror and towel it off.

Tip - Laundry

Avoid overloading your washing machine. The clothes will wash a lot better if there is room for them to circulate. Keep your washer clean. Occasionally pour a gallon of distilled vinegar into the washer and using warm water, let the machine run through a wash and rinse cycle. The vinegar will cut soap residue in hoses and leave the washer nice and clean.

Tip - Pick A Good Lettuce Head

When picking a head of lettuce check the underside to make sure there is no brown on it. Do not pick a heavy lettuce head, pick a nice green colored light one. Try mixing two kinds of lettuce for a great salad. Always wash the leaves well and pat dry with paper towels.

Tip - Water Rings On Furniture

Got some water rings on the coffee table? Try applying a paste of cooking oil and salt. Wait 15 minutes and wipe off. Also, you can apply mayonnaise liberally over the water stain and leave it overnight. Wipe it off with a clean soft cloth the next day then polish the table with furniture polish.

Tip - Clutter

Friends are coming by and your place is a cluttered mess. Always have a couple of strong laundry baskets handy. Pile the unsorted clutter into them and hide them in the garage.

Tip - Juicy tomatoes

When you put your tomatoes in the frig they stop ripening. Put them stem-side down in a cool place. Space them so they do not touch. You will have juicy tomatoes in the salad you are making for your sweetie.

Tip - Quick Cleanup

Your bedroom is a mess and your mom or girlfriend is heading over. Try making the bed really well first as this makes a huge impact. Picking up the dirty clothing on the floor should be second if you have the time.

Tip - Disposing Of Cooking Grease

Got grease congealing in a pan from the burgers you just fried? The worst thing in the world for garbage disposals or kitchen drains is grease. Flush your toilet and pour grease in as water goes down. Flush again after toilet fills for good measure. If the grease is congealed, wipe pan out with paper towels and toss towels into the kitchen garbage.

Tip - Leftover Lime

Just made a rum and coke, don’t throw away that half squeezed lime. There’s always enough juice to squeeze onto your cutting board or counter then lightly wipe with a damp paper towel or clean damp dishcloth. This freshens up the board or counter and also the dishcloth.
